Ireland's No. 1 Fruit Farm.
We're delighted to announce that we were recently awarded the title of National award-winner for the fruit sector. Each year An Bord Glas and the National Standards Authority of Ireland conduct quality audits on Ireland's fruit farms. In common with all participants in the quality scheme,
last year we received two unannounced audits. As a consequence of our performance in these audits, we were adjudged to have the No.1 fruit-farm in Ireland for 2000. That's not bad when one considers all the other excellent participants ranging from strawberry to blackcurrant to apple growers nation-wide. It's a feat we hope to emulate again this year, but to do so will require another great effort. We hope that you, our customers, will keep us on our toes.
Coming later
Thanks to the late spring just past, we can confidently predict a plum harvest this year. Here in Ireland plums blossom early; sometimes even in April. With regular frosts right into May, an entire crop can easily be lost. It's good news therefore, if spring arrives late, as later flowering means fewer frosts and less frost damage.
The Opal crop is looking good; we expect to harvest at the end of July. Victoria too are on their way, but we won't have these till sometime in August.
Coming soon
Our raspberry crop is really promising. The canes are planted four years now, and are really coming into their prime. This means that the fruit quality will be very good, and with our unique training system harvest should be easy also. Harvest will begin in early July, and we look forward to getting stuck in.
Now available
The strawberry season is now upon us. We've been harvesting Honeyoye for a week or so, and now Elsanta are at their peak. We also have Eros, named after the Greek god of love, and when you taste it you'll know why. This is now our main variety, as our previous favourite (Daniella) no longer grows well. If you're planning to come to pick your own strawberries,
we have a large plot for this purpose too. Conveniently located close to the raspberries, you should be able to pick both of these. Strawberries are available right now, but don't be late or you'll miss the best.
Your details
Some people have contacted us to tell us that their names or address details are incorrectly printed
on the envelopes. We have done our best to get them right, but it's not always easy. If you wish to have a detail corrected, then send us the label from the envelope with whatever corrections you want and we'll change it for you.
