Apple Variety: Red Prince

Red Prince is another type of Jonagold, and it arose in the same manner as Jonagored. It was found in Princen Brothers Orchard in 1994. They propagated from the branch that gave the dark red apples, and some of the trees they grew were bought by Irish growers. Though the first plantings were only in 2000, it has done well and looks like an apple of the future. It is a firm red apple with very good flavour, and is available in the Celtic Orchards six-pack from December onwards.
